29: Beyond the Gate: The Last Gozzaki Chapter 31: The Shattered Flower 29: Beyond the Gate: The Last Gozzaki Chapter 31: The Shattered Flower Chapter 31: The Shattered Flower The classroom door shattered like glass.

The teacher stood bravely in front of the students, but the monster—a jagged, shadow-clad beast—tore through him in seconds.

Blood splattered across the desks.

Maki stood frozen, her hands shaking as she gripped the Rank 2 dagger.

Seeing someone die for the first time broke something inside her; her grip loosened, and the dagger clattered to the floor.

“Maki!

Help!” her best friend cried, rushing to her side.

The monsters began a systematic slaughter, moving from desk to desk.

“I…

I have a little soul energy!

I’ll try!” Maki’s friend screamed, launching a desperate spark of magic at a beast.

But the monster was too fast.

It lunged, its teeth sinking into her arm and tearing it clean off.

As her friend collapsed, bleeding out, the monster raised its claws for the killing blow.

Seeing her friend about to die snapped Maki out of her trance.

She dived for the dagger, her fingers locking onto the hilt, and in one fluid motion, she swung.

The Rank 2 blade sliced through the monster’s neck like paper.

Its head rolled across the floor.

Maki grabbed her dying friend, trying to pull her toward the hallway, but they were surrounded.

A massive monster delivered a crushing punch to Maki’s chest.

She flew backward, smashing through the classroom wall.

Dust and debris settled as Maki slumped to the ground, blood coughing from her mouth.

While Maki lay paralyzed, the monsters fell upon her friend, finishing her.

Two beasts then turned their hungry eyes toward the injured Maki, crawling slowly toward her.

[Outside the Rank 1 Portal] The Centaur Boss fell with a final, thunderous crash.

Xyron and Yuhima stood over its corpse as the exit portal stabilized.

The other knights caught up, breathless.

“Captain!

You…

you two took down a Rank 1 Boss alone?” They ignored the praise and stepped through the gate back into the real world.

The moment Xyron’s feet touched the pavement, his soul spiked with agony.

He gasped, clutching his chest.

“Maki…” “What?

What is it, Xyron?” Yuhima asked, sensing his sudden terror.

“Maki is in danger!

I have to go!” Xyron focused his mind.

“Teleport!” Nothing happened.

A blue screen flickered in his vision: [Skill on Cooldown: 120 seconds remaining].

“Shit!

It’s on cooldown!

Yuhima, her school—it’s in the East District!” Yuhima didn’t hesitate.

She grabbed Xyron’s arm, her S-Rank soul energy exploding around her feet like lightning.

“Hold on!” In a blur of white light, she moved at speeds Xyron could barely track, racing toward the location.

[Maki’s School] In the ruins of the classroom, a monster gripped Maki by the throat, lifting her broken body into the air.

Maki’s vision was fading; her breath hitched as the beast’s claws dug into her skin.

“MAKI!!!” The wall exploded.

Xyron and Yuhima burst through the rubble.

Xyron’s eyes were glowing a violent, murderous purple.

He snapped his fingers, spawning ten daggers that flew like missiles, pinning the monster to the wall.

It dropped Maki.

Xyron was a blur of rage.

He reached the remaining monsters in a fraction of a second, tearing them apart with his bare hands until only red mist remained.

He then scrambled to Maki’s side.

“Maki…

Maki, look at me!” Maki’s eyes were glassy.

She tried to speak, but only blood bubbled from her lips.

Xyron frantically pulled out the healing potion she had given him that morning.

“Drink this!

Please, just drink it!” As the liquid touched her lips, a cold digital screen appeared before Xyron’s eyes: [Warning: Target HP is below 5%.

Standard Healing Potions are ineffective at critical soul-failure levels.] “No…

no, no, no!” Xyron began to sob, his tears falling onto Maki’s pale face.

“Ryan!

Ryan, help me!

Save her!

You’re a monster, you have to have a way!” Inside his mind, for the first time, Ryan wasn’t laughing.

He was standing in the darkness, tears streaming down his own face.

“I’m sorry, Xyron…

even I can’t fix a soul that’s already fading.

Below 5%…

it’s over.” Yuhima knelt beside them, her hands glowing with an intense, holy light.

She looked at Xyron with desperate eyes.

“Xyron, I can try something…

a Soul-Bind Transfer.

But it will be the most excruciating pain she has ever felt.

It might break her mind.” Xyron gripped Yuhima’s hand, his voice a broken wreck.

“Do it.

Anything!

Just save her!

PLEASE!” Editor’s Comment: This is the darkest moment for the Gozzaki siblings.

Xyron, who has all the power in the world, is helpless against a 5% HP bar.

Ryan’s tears show that he truly cared for Maki in his own twisted way.

Now, Yuhima is the only hope—but a Soul-Bind is a forbidden technique.

Will Maki survive the process, or will the pain be the thing that finally kills her?
