The weight of the S-Rank ID in his pocket felt different now—it was no longer a secret, but a license.
“Now that I’m officially an S-Rank Knight,” Xyron said, looking at Yuito, “I should be allowed to enter Rank 1 portals alone.
I don’t need a team slowing me down.” Yuito leaned back in his leather chair, a smirk playing on his lips.
“Technically, the Association rules say every Rank 1 raid needs a full party.
But then again, rules are made to be broken, aren’t they?
Especially by someone like you.” Yuito tapped a holographic map on his desk.
“There’s a Rank 1 gate that opened an hour ago.
It’s near the old sports ground to the east.
Go.
Consider it a private training session.” Xyron didn’t wait for a second invitation.
He walked out of the building, stood on the pavement, and closed his eyes.
“Teleport.” In a blink, he appeared at the edge of the cricket ground.
He searched the area but found nothing.
He walked toward the back of the ground, where an abandoned road cut through the hills.
There, swirling like a vortex of dark lightning, was the Rank 1 Portal.
Xyron stepped inside.
The moment the dungeon’s cold air hit his face, a raspy, hungry voice echoed in his mind.
“Finally,” Ryan whispered.
“Give me the body, Xyron.
I’m bored of watching you play ‘hero.’ I want to tear something apart.” “Fine,” Xyron replied.
“I came here specifically so you could let off some steam.
But be careful.” “One warning, brother,” Ryan chuckled darkly.
“I’m going to use a massive amount of soul energy.
When you take the body back, you won’t be able to use your powers for a while.
Your soul will need to recharge.
Deal?” “Deal.
Do it.” The swap was instantaneous.
Xyron’s calm purple eyes shifted into a predatory, glowing violet.
Ryan stretched his neck, a sinister grin spreading across his face.
He didn’t walk; he blurred.
He moved through the first wave of monsters like a ghost.
“Slash.
Slash.
SLASH!” Ryan didn’t even use a weapon.
He used his bare hands, coated in sharpened soul energy, to decapitate every monster in his path.
Their heads rolled across the cavern floor before they could even growl.
“Too weak,” Ryan spat.
Suddenly, a thunderous roar shook the cave.
The Boss—a massive, six-armed stone golem with burning coal for eyes—emerged from the shadows.
It swung a fist the size of a car at Ryan.
Ryan jumped high, laughing like a maniac.
He landed on the monster’s face and plunged his hand directly into its left eye.
He ripped the glowing core out with a sickening squelch and kicked the monster’s chest with enough force to shatter stone.
Enraged, the Boss swung a jagged stone blade, clean-cutting through Ryan’s shoulder.
Blood sprayed, but Ryan didn’t even flinch.
Within seconds, the wound knitted back together—Regeneration.
“My turn,” Ryan hissed.
He grabbed the Boss by its throat and began to fly upward.
He wasn’t looking for the exit; he was looking for the ceiling.
“Ryan, what are you doing?” Xyron’s voice echoed in his mind.
“You have to kill it here to close the gate!” “Rules don’t apply to me, Xyron!” Ryan roared.
With a burst of violet soul energy, Ryan slammed the Boss through the cave’s ceiling.
They smashed through layers of rock and a shimmering magical barrier that was supposed to keep the dungeon separate from reality.
BOOM!
They erupted out of the ground and onto the main road in the real world.
Pedestrians screamed and cars screeched to a halt as a 20-foot monster and a glowing man crashed onto the asphalt.
“No…
this can’t happen,” Xyron gasped internally.
“How did you bring a Boss into the real world without clearing the portal?” Ryan ignored him.
He stood over the dazed Boss, his hand glowing with enough energy to level a building.
With one swift motion, he tore the Boss’s head off in the middle of the street, letting the black blood spill onto the public road.
Editor’s Comment: Ryan has just done the impossible.
He broke the physical laws of the Gate system.
By bringing a Rank 1 Boss into the human world and killing it there, he has alerted every sensor in the country.
Xyron is about to regain control of his body, but he’ll be powerless and standing in the middle of a crime scene with a dead monster.
How will he explain this to Yuito and the Association?
