7: Beyond the Gate: The Last Gozzaki Chapter 7: The Ghost of the Past 7: Beyond the Gate: The Last Gozzaki Chapter 7: The Ghost of the Past Chapter 7: The Ghost of the Past [The Third World – Inside an Unknown Portal] The air inside the portal was thick with the scent of sulfur and ozone.

A man, tall and rugged with a thick beard, moved with the grace of a seasoned predator.

His face bore a striking resemblance to Xyron, but his eyes carried the weight of decades of survival.

His name was Hayato.

Suddenly, a monster lunged from the shadows, its claws aimed at Hayato’s throat.

Without breaking his stride, Hayato pivoted, dodging the attack by a fraction of an inch.

As the beast stumbled, a flash of steel swept through the air.

Slash.

The monster’s head hit the ground.

“Thanks, Niru,” Hayato said, his voice deep and calm.

Niru, a sharp-looking knight, sheathed his dagger.

“Don’t mention it.

Let’s keep moving.

This place feels wrong.” As they rounded a corner, their blood ran cold.

Standing before them was a massive, unending army of monsters, their eyes glowing like a sea of red embers.

“Get ready,” Hayato whispered, gripping his sword.

“This is going to be a long night.” [Xyron’s Apartment – Same Time] Xyron lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling.

The silence of the room was heavy with memories.

He couldn’t stop thinking about the man who had raised him.

The door opened, and Maki walked in.

She looked at Xyron’s distant expression and sighed.

“What are you thinking about now, Xyron?” “Just…

Dad,” Xyron replied quietly.

“If he was still here, I wouldn’t have to go on these raids.

Everything would be different.” Maki sat at the edge of the bed.

“Yeah.

He was a great man.

Hayato Gozzaki…

he was incredibly strong.

All he ever wanted was to keep us away from the life of a knight.

He wanted us to be safe, to be normal.” She paused, looking at Xyron.

“You know, you look exactly like him.” Xyron sat up, his brow furrowed.

“Are you serious?

I barely remember his face.

Everything from that day…

the day Lucifer killed them…

it’s a blur.” He looked Maki in the eyes.

“Maki, did you actually see Dad’s body that day?” Maki froze.

“What?

What are you trying to say?” “Think about it,” Xyron’s voice grew urgent.

“You said he was one of the most powerful knights.

If he was that strong, how did a 12-year-old Lucifer kill him so easily?

And when the Association found the bodies…

Mom was there.

But Dad…

his body was never found, was it?

What if…

what if he’s still alive?” “Shut up!” Maki shouted, standing up abruptly.

Her face was pale.

“You’re being delusional, Xyron!

Don’t talk like that.

It’s painful enough as it is.

Stop making up stories and face reality!” She turned and stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind her.

[Back in the Portal – The Final Stand] The battlefield was littered with the corpses of monsters.

Hayato’s team had fought through the army, and now, only the Portal Boss remained—a hulking titan of muscle and bone.

Hayato jumped high into the air, his blade aiming for the Boss’s neck.

But the creature was fast.

It swung a massive fist, slamming into Hayato’s chest and sending him crashing to the floor.

“Hayato!” the team yelled, rushing the Boss to distract it.

Hayato gritted his teeth, pushing through the pain.

He stood up, waited for an opening, and lunged.

CRACK.

His sword sliced through the Boss’s leg, bringing the giant to its knees.

In a final, desperate move, Hayato circled to the rear and plunged his sword deep into the Boss’s back.

A teammate followed up with a lethal blow to the head.

The Boss disintegrated.

A blue light flickered at the end of the cavern—the exit portal had appeared.

“Move!

We only have two minutes!” Niru shouted.

The knights began to run toward the exit.

Hayato, however, lingered for a moment.

He began carving out the Rare Stones from the Boss’s remains.

“Come on, Hayato!

We have to go!” Niru urged, standing by the portal’s edge.

“Go ahead, Niru!

I’ll be right behind you!” Hayato replied, focused on the glowing stones.

Niru hesitated, then dived into the portal.

Hayato finished collecting the stones and turned to run.

But as he reached the swirling blue energy, it began to flicker and shrink.

“Wait!” Hayato screamed, reaching out his hand.

But it was too late.

The portal vanished into nothingness, leaving Hayato standing alone in the dark, silent world of the monsters.

He was trapped.

Editor’s Comment: The plot thickens!

While Xyron begins to question the truth about his father’s death, we see Hayato Gozzaki alive and fighting in a distant portal.

But tragedy strikes again as Hayato is left behind in the Third World.

Is this the ‘third Gozzaki’ the Chairman was talking about?

And how will Xyron react when he realizes his father might still be breathing in a world of shadows?
