Beyond the Gate: The Last Gozzaki

Chapter 64: Broken Bonds and Bloodied Rings

While the world was shouting for blood in the arena, a different kind of silence filled Kim’s luxury penthouse. Kim and Maki were sitting on the plush sofa, their eyes glued to the TV. Suddenly, Kim’s phone vibrated. The name on the screen was Rin.

“Hi, Rin!” Kim said, answering with a smile.

“Hello? Am I speaking with a friend of Rin?” a cold, clinical voice replied. It was a doctor.

“Yes… I’m a close friend. Is everything okay?” Kim’s smile began to fade.

“We are very sorry, sir. There was a catastrophic car accident an hour ago. Rin passed away upon arrival at the hospital. We found your number on her emergency contact list. Could you come to the morgue to identify and claim the body?”

The phone slipped from Kim’s hand, hitting the floor with a dull thud. His vision blurred as the room began to spin. He didn’t even hear Maki’s voice. His legs gave out, and he collapsed onto the carpet, gasping for air as the first sob escaped his throat.

“Kim! What happened? Kim, talk to me!” Maki screamed, rushing to his side. But Kim was gone, lost in a sea of grief, his tears staining the expensive rug.

[The Mega Fight Arena]

Back in the ring, the atmosphere was demonic. Adam stood over the scorched, trembling body of Han-Seol. His childhood bully was on his knees, begging for mercy with his eyes.

Adam didn’t hesitate. With one swift, brutal motion, he swung his flaming hand like a blade. SHINK! Han-Seol’s head was severed. Adam caught the head by the hair, held it up for the cameras to see, and then crushed it into cinders with a burst of soul fire.

The stadium went silent. Even the announcers were speechless. The next South Korean knight rushed in, fueled by rage, but Adam didn’t even let him breathe. He met the knight mid-dash and delivered a “Point-Blank Nova.” The knight was vaporized instantly. One shot.

Yuhima closed her eyes, turning her head away. The Adam she knew was disappearing, replaced by a monster of pure vengeance.

But Adam was exhausted. His mana was low, and his breathing was heavy. That’s when the third and final South Korean knight, Kang-Dae, entered. Kang-Dae was a technical fighter, a master of spear-combat.

The fight was a one-sided slaughter. Kang-Dae’s spear moved like a viper, piercing Adam’s shoulders, legs, and chest. Adam tried to conjure fire, but his energy was spent. Kang-Dae spun his spear, aiming a final, lethal thrust at Adam’s throat.

“Enough!” a voice rang out.

Yujo blurred into the ring, his hand catching the tip of Kang-Dae’s spear with his bare fingers. “I told you, Adam is mine to deal with. Step back, Korean.”

“Who are you to tell us when the fight ends?” another voice boomed.

Two S-Rank knights from Pakistan, Zubair the Iron-Willed and Hamza the Storm-Bringer, stepped into the arena, their auras clashing. “If everyone is joining the party, then we might as well end this now. Let’s see who really owns this ring!”

The arena was now a ticking time bomb. Japan, South Korea, and Pakistan were all standing in the center, weapons drawn, ready for a three-way massacre.

Editor’s Comment:

Tragedy has struck home. Kim has lost Rin, and his heart is shattered just as his empire was beginning to rise. In the arena, the Mega Fight has devolved into a chaotic free-for-all. Yujo has finally stepped in, but the inclusion of the Pakistani S-Ranks has made the situation unpredictable. With Adam at death’s door and Yuhima paralyzed by horror, the stage is perfectly set for the man in the black hoodie to finally show his face.
