“What’s the hold-up here?” The lead knight turned around.
“Nothing much, Captain.
This kid thinks he can just stroll into our portal.” The Captain, a man with cold, calculating eyes, looked Xyron up and down.
He saw the cheap gear but noticed something in Xyron’s eyes—a desperation he hadn’t seen in a long time.
“Fine,” the Captain said, surprising his men.
“If you want to die so badly, go ahead.
But listen: you only get the stones from the monsters you kill.
We aren’t sharing a single cent of our loot with a freelancer.
Deal?” “Deal,” Xyron replied shortly.
“I don’t care about the stones anyway.” The team stepped through the blue vortex, and for a moment, the world spun.
When the light faded, they weren’t in a cave or a ruined city.
They were standing in a dense, prehistoric jungle where the trees reached the clouds and the air smelled of ancient moss and raw meat.
“What the…
what the fucking hell is that?” Xyron whispered, his heart skipping a beat.
In the distance, massive long-necked creatures were moving through the trees, and the ground shook with every step of the giants.
“Is this…
Jurassic World?” one knight stammered, his sword shaking.
“I’ve never seen a portal like this in my life!” “Get a grip!” the Captain barked, though he looked pale.
“This is a Rank 3 portal.
These aren’t real dinosaurs; they’re mana-mutated monsters.
Treat them like any other beast.
Now, move!” They hadn’t walked ten paces when a terrifying roar shattered the silence.
Out of the foliage, a T-Rex—three times larger than any museum fossil—lunged forward.
With a sickening crunch, it bit the head off the closest knight before anyone could draw a weapon.
“REAR ATTACK!
KILL IT!” the Captain screamed.
The remaining knights swarmed the beast, their blades glowing with soul energy.
Xyron stood back, his breath coming in short gasps.
‘I came here for my father…
but what is this?
How am I supposed to find a human in this prehistoric hell?’ [Xyron’s Apartment – Same Time] Maki groaned, rolling over in her bed.
She reached out to shake Xyron’s shoulder, but her hand hit an empty mattress.
She sat up, rubbing her eyes.
“Xyron?
Where did you go so early?” She checked the clock.
“Oh no, did I miss college?” She paused, then realized with a sigh of relief, “Wait…
it’s Sunday.
He probably just went out with Jin or something.” She didn’t know Jin was dead.
She didn’t know Xyron was in another world.
Shrugging, she pulled the blanket back over her head and fell back into a deep sleep.
[Inside the Portal] The knights had finally managed to bring down the T-Rex.
They were cheering, wiping the blood from their armor.
“We did it!
Rank 3 isn’t so tough after all!” But their celebration was cut short.
From every corner of the jungle, seven more roars answered.
A pack of T-Rexes was surrounding them.
The knights turned to run, but the Captain stood his ground, desperate for the loot.
He swung his blade, decapitating the nearest beast.
“See?
They’re nothing!” Suddenly, the knights behind him stopped.
Their faces turned white as they backed away.
“Captain…
behind you…” The Captain turned, but he didn’t see anything—at first.
Then he looked up.
A dinosaur so large it made the T-Rexes look like toys was looming over him.
Before he could scream, the giant foot descended.
CRUNCH.
The Captain was flattened into the mud instantly.
“RUN!
EVERYONE RUN!” the surviving knights screamed, scattering in every direction.
Xyron stayed still.
He watched as the knights ran straight into the jaws of another predator lurking in the bushes.
One knight, his legs crushed, crawled toward Xyron, his hand reaching out.
“Help…
Xyron, please help me…” In the next second, a massive foot slammed down, silencing the knight forever.
Xyron’s heart was pounding against his ribs like a drum.
‘I am not like them.
I am a Gozzaki.’ He dropped into a combat stance, focusing every ounce of his soul energy into his hand.
He threw his dagger with all his might, the blade whistling through the air.
CLANG!
The dagger hit the dinosaur’s hide and shattered into a hundred pieces.
The monster didn’t even have a scratch.
“No…
no way,” Xyron whispered, staring at his empty hand.
The giant monster turned its head, its golden eye fixing on Xyron.
Editor’s Comment: The Rank 3 Portal was a lie!
Xyron is trapped in a prehistoric nightmare where iron daggers shatter like glass.
With the team dead and his only weapon broken, Xyron is face-to-face with a monster that killed a Rank 3 Captain with one step.
Is it time for the Blue Eye to return, or will the Gozzaki line end in the belly of a beast?
