Chapter 92: The Little Passenger
As they walked down the mountain, Hayima looked up at Xyron with wide, curious eyes. “Master Xyron… how old are you, really?”
Xyron chuckled, his voice echoing against the rocks. “I’m twenty-seven. Don’t let the look fool you, though. Any knight who reaches S-Rank or higher stops aging physically. If I live to be a thousand, I’ll still look exactly like this.”
Hayima’s eyes sparkled with wonder. “I want that power too! I want to stay young forever!”
“Then you’ll have to train until you drop,” Xyron teased. As they walked, he explained his world—introducing the names of his friends, Kim and Yuhima, and proudly speaking of his sister, Maki.
Suddenly, Xyron stopped and whispered, “Ignis.” In a swirl of embers, the massive Dragon King materialized, his scales glowing like cooling lava. Hayima hid behind Xyron’s leg, shivering.
“It’s alright, Hayima. He’s with me,” Xyron said gently. The little girl cautiously reached out, her tiny hand pressing against Ignis’s snout. When the dragon let out a soft, low rumble instead of attacking, Hayima giggled. Xyron lifted her onto the dragon’s back and climbed up behind her, holding her securely as they took flight.
The speed was immense—the wind roared past them, whipping their hair into a frenzy. Within minutes, they landed smoothly in front of the Gozzaki mansion.
“Maki!” Xyron called out as he entered the hall.
Maki rushed out, her expression a mix of relief and frustration. “Xyron! I told you to send word before disappearing! And… who is this?” She stared at Hayima, who was currently clutching Xyron’s coat tightly.
“I found her,” Xyron explained. “She’s lost. Ignis is going to take her on a tour of the country until she recognizes her home.”
Maki’s eyes softened as she approached, but Hayima immediately stepped back, hiding behind Xyron once more. Maki frowned. “She’s so cute… why is she scared of me?”
Xyron smiled, patting Hayima’s head. “She’s just shy. Give her a moment.”
Editor’s Comment:
The contrast between Xyron the ‘Slayer of Portals’ and Xyron the ‘Protector of Hayima’ is becoming the heart of the story. Maki is clearly feeling a bit sidelined, which adds a nice layer of domestic tension to the grander plot of the Titans Group. It’s a quiet moment before the storm—because we all know the Titans won’t stay away for long.
